Observation of the Teachers in the Classroom

When I was deployed in SMAN 1, I was given the supervision of two cooperating teachers Ibu Ana and Ibu Nunja. They're both 29 and I was the first ever student teacher they have handled since they began teaching. Here are some of the observations I have made regarding them both.

Teaching
Plan

My cooperating teachers usually use semi-detailed lesson plans where they only put all the activities that are to be done by the students as well as short discussions of the topic/lesson to be delivered in the classroom.

Preparation
of Lessons
and Materials

The teachers prepare worksheets for the students' learning evaluation which are given right after the discussion. They always plan to maximize the time alotted for the subject.

Teaching in
the
Classroom

My cooperating teachers are very organized in teaching as well as in managing the class. They let the students discover and construct their own learning while the teacher facilitates. They often use collaborative approach so students will be given the chance to work with their peers, developing both their cognitive and social skills.

I've noticed that they always use worksheets as form of evaluation. They also let some students present their works in front of the class. Aside from that, they always collect students' notebook to check their homeworks and practice sets.

Both my cooperating teachers are well equipped with pedagogical content knowledge. They were so hands on in mentoring, guiding and helping me in order to teach well in a foreign country with foreign students. They are loved by the students and Math class with them is fun. I have learned a lot from the both of them which I can apply in my teaching career in the Philippines. They became not just my mentors or advisers but my older sisters.
